The WHEST – Cicogna Bianca route winds for approximately 20 km through the heart of the Adda Sud Park, offering an exceptional cycling experience that combines nature and history. The route, almost entirely paved and flat, is ideal for every cyclist.
The route begins at the Lodi train station, a strategic choice that favors the bike-train combination, allowing visitors to easily reach the city without using a car. Before riding into the countryside, it’s a must to take some time to explore Lodi’s historic center: the majestic Piazza della Vittoria with its Romanesque Cathedral, the Tempio Civico dell’Incoronata, and the imposing Torrione del Castello Visconteo offer a cultural prelude of rare beauty.
Once you’re ready to set off, the route winds south along the Ciclovia Dorsale dell’Adda, signposted and with long stretches on its own path, through the typical Lodi landscape of canals, rice paddies, and poplar groves. The route passes through rural villages like Caviaga and Turano Lodigiano, finally reaching Castiglione d’Adda. Here, you leave the Dorsale dell’Adda to reach the nearby Visitor Center of the Adda Sud Park, home to the White Stork acclimation station, where you can admire these elegant birds that nest in the area.
